ClickView + CEnet: Social Media Delay, December 2025
Navigating the Social Media Delay
From 10 December 2025, new national Social Media Minimum Age restrictions will prevent students under 16 from logging into platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, Reddit, and Snapchat. These changes will affect how students access content both at school and at home, and many schools have already begun planning for what this means in practice.
To better understand the impact of the pending policy change on classrooms, a recent survey of Australian teachers, showed that 77% reported using YouTube weekly, yet many remaining unsure what will be permissible once students move to a logged-out mode. School leaders also identified the risk of mixed messaging if logged-out YouTube continues to be used while government policy restricts it.
To navigate the impact of this policy change, CEnet’s strategic partnership with ClickView may provide further advantages to your diocese that extend the value of your existing licensing. ClickView has a long-standing relationship with CEnet and has had ongoing consultation with the CEnet community to ensure that schools within the network are well-positioned for this transition.
Insights drawn from this collaboration inform ClickView’s content licensing strategy, which spans a wide range of educational publishers and trusted providers. In preparation for the upcoming restrictions, ClickView is also increasing support for schools by reviewing teacher-requested videos (including those from YouTube) and, where they meet quality and curriculum-aligned standards, licensing them for safe, ad-free classroom use.
To support educators with their preparation, ClickView has developed additional resources to help schools understand the upcoming restrictions, communicate clearly with families, and maintain safe, engaging digital learning.
