Beyond the breakers: Charting the course together Ballina RSL Club, Ballina NSW
CEnet Concepts 2026
This two-day event is specifically designed for School Information System (SIS) and Financial Management System (FMS) members from Catholic education dioceses across Australia. It provides a prime opportunity for Diocese Compass and TechOne Subject Matter Experts (SME) and the Finance Working Group to come together.
Join us for an immersive experience designed to bring educational systems and technology professionals together to share strategies, navigate shared challenges, and chart a clear course toward practical solutions.
DAY 1: Direction, Strategy & Diocesan Context
Kick off the conference by exploring high-level strategies, expanding your network and tackling the realities of our daily work.
CEnet & Education Systems Updates: Start the morning by getting up to speed on the latest strategic context and technology updates across our education systems.
SME Connect: Build your network! Join dedicated breakout tables to connect with fellow SMEs from similar or different contexts - whether you are new to the role, a veteran SME, or representing large, small, primary, or secondary dioceses.
Peer Practice Exchange – What’s harder than it needs to be?: Step into a safe space session to candidly discuss the systems, processes and patterns causing friction in your day-to-day. Collaborate with peers to identify common problems and share your best SME Hacks and workarounds.
Showcase & Compass Sessions: Dive into specific system spotlights, including the Lismore Showcase and dedicated time for Compass.
Diocesan Excursion & Conference Dinner: Unwind and connect with an afternoon excursion featuring a presentation house, chapel Mass and a cathedral tour, leading directly into our evening Conference Dinner.
DAY 2: Practical Insight, Peer Learning & What’s Next
Turn day one's strategy and problem-solving into actionable insights with real-world case studies and a look at emerging technologies.
Optional Morning Activity: Start your day with a memorable, optional whale watching, walking, or cycling tour before the sessions begin.
Case Study Spotlights: Enjoy rapid-fire, 10-minute presentations showcasing real-world wins. Hear how different dioceses are using Compass day-to-day, how they've improved processes like enrolments and timetabling, and lessons learned from TechOne billing implementations.
Industry & Tech Partner Insights: Gain valuable forward-looking perspectives from Catholic Schools NSW, TechnologyOne and our other key partners.
AI in Action (cechat): Explore the practical, assistive uses of cechat and AI support tools. This session focuses heavily on establishing guardrails, building trust and understanding what to allow.
Peer Practice Exchange – What I am taking back: We will wrap up the conference by summarising the recurring small wins and ideas that travel well across different contexts. Walk away with a clear plan for the insights you are taking back to your diocese.
